Carol Marine's Panel Holder

The perfect tool for the painter of small paintings.

Now available in 2 Sizes.

panel holder

This panel holder was designed by Carol Marine, one of the Daily Painters, and her husband.

Carol Marine's husband invented a panel holder for her to use when she paints. It's a simple thing that uses friction to hold the painting, and 1. keeps small panels in place, and 2. allows one to paint off all four sides without anything getting in the way. It is a GREAT tool - one I use every single day. A former student, Karen Rike's husband has offered to make these and sell them for me here. Here is a photo of my very used one (left) and a new one (right). The top and bottom smaller pieces are glued in place. The middle piece and the painting (duh) are moveable.

Recently, while at a workshop, Carol Marine had a few students that were having problems with the panel holders. The slider piece was sometimes slipping out of place while painting. A student came up with an easy solution. Simply brush some rubber cement onto the bottom, narrow strip of the slider piece (where it touches the bottom, fixed piece) and let it dry for about 10 minutes. If you have this problem, the rubber cement should solve it.
